Third wave of COVID 19 hits Italy
19 April 2021
After falling steadily through January and February, new infections rose sharply in March with more than 20,000 new cases daily, for most of the month.
It’s now well into April and new cases are still very high – too high.
Italy has colour coded its regions according level of risk – white, yellow, orange and red. White means life almost as it was pre COVID while at the other end of the scale, red means almost total lockdown. All of Italy is currently either orange or red.
Even at the lower level of yellow, there are curfews, compulsory mask wearing and other measures.
Sadly our tours are unlikely to resume unless Puglia, Sardinia and other parts of Italy are declared white zones.
