Italy starts vaccinations

December 27 has been dubbed Vaccine day, the official start of the anti COVID-19 vaccination campaign In Italy, as well as the rest of Europe, marking a major milestone in the fight to end the coronavirus pandemic.

Health authorities have indicated that priority for vaccination would be given to health workers, elderly people and people with conditions that make them vulnerable, followed by the military and police.

Research has shown that the vaccine will prevent COVID-19 disease with hopes that it will also be effective in preventing transmission of the virus.
